While most common Pennsylvania construction injury is a fall from a height, workers can experience a wide range of PA construction injuries, including:

Loss of limbs as a result of conveyor belt accidents or machinery malfunction

Severe burns from fires, explosions, faulty wiring or chemical spills

Crushed fingers and toes caused by falling debris or malfunctioning doors

Paralysis from elevator falls or heavy equipment accidents

Occupational diseases from breathing harmful chemicals, such as COPD or other respiratory problems

Repetitive stress injuries from years of lifting, hauling or performing fine motor movements

Exposure injuries such as heat exhaustion, freezing, and certain types of cancers

Chronic pain from a former injury or an aggravated medical condition

Sensory loss, such as chemical blindness or hearing impairment from constant loud noise

Wrongful death as a result of an unsafe workplace

While these injuries are devastating, they are by no means all the suffering a construction worker may face. Many construction employees sustain an injury on the job, only to find that their employer refuses to provide worker’s compensation for their medical bills and time off of work. When that happens, our experienced Philadelphia workers comp attorneys go to work.

If you were injured on the job in Pennsylvania, get advice from the trusted Philadelphia construction accident lawyers at Shor & Levin. We are proud to offer FREE case evaluations to all accident victims.

After a you have suffered a serious back injury in Philadelphia, it is unlikely that your life will ever be the same. You may be forced to switch from a mobile position to a desk job, requiring retraining or additional education. Some employees can never return to work because they suffer from chronic pain or paralysis. And no matter how you have suffered, you can bet your employer will work to deny your workers compensation claim.

Here are just a few work-related back injuries PA employees may experience

Falls. A fall at work can easily result in a broken back, slipped disc, or even paralysis.

Sudden impacts. Equipment or inventory falling off a shelf can cause serious trauma to the spine, resulting in nerve damage, spinal damage or broken ribs.

Motor vehicle accidents. If you drive in the daily course of your job, a vehicle accident that results in a spinal fracture, herniated disc or other back injury should be covered under worker’s comp.

Repetitive strain. Repeated bending, twisting or lifting puts stress on the back muscles, bones and spine. After years of enduring the weight and pressure, it’s not uncommon for a back to simply give out.

Aggravated conditions. A worker may suffer a back injury in his youth that has been made worse by the demands of the job. Although some employers may argue that the injury is unrelated to work, these conditions are covered by worker’s compensation.

Age. An employee who has worked for a company for thirty years has adapted his body to the demands of the job. This may cause chronic problems, including arthritis, sciatica, neck strain, or other painful conditions.

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for victims to have their insurance claim denied after they have been hurt on the job in Philadelphia. Insurance companies know that these are serious injuries that can permanently affect a victim’s earning capacity, and they do not want to be responsible for your ongoing medical treatment.

Our Philadelphia workers comp attorneys know that the most effective way to get compensation for a PA back injury on the job is not to back down. After receiving medical care, you should keep records of your symptoms and treatment, including the names of doctors and appointment dates. Inform your employer of your condition as soon as possible, and don’t let them scare you away from making a claim.

If you have been denied worker’s compensation in PA, you can get help on your case. Contact the Bulldog lawyers at Shor & Levin for a FREE case evaluation today.

We prize the independent spirit in America. Each of us wants to believe we can tackle any problem on our own. Some people have trouble asking for help even when it’s clear they need it.

If you have been hurt at work, you’re definitely not performing at your peak. That means you are at a disadvantage when you try to file a workers’ compensation claim. And that’s even before we consider your adversary, the workers’ comp insurance company. Insurance companies try to increase their profits by cutting expenses — your benefits — whenever possible. As a matter of policy, the workers’ comp insurance adjuster in charge of your case will try to deny your claims, to minimize your benefits, to confuse and intimidate you, and to bury you in paperwork. The day you stop fighting, he’ll have a good laugh at your expense.

Maybe it’s time to say you need help

Wouldn’t it be great, in a situation like this, to be able to call on a friend to give you a helping hand? Someone who has already had wide experience in defeating the workers’ comp adjusters at their own game. Someone who is both loyal and relentless at fighting on your behalf?

You need someone to guard your legal rights, while you concentrate on recovering from your workplace injury. You need a lawyer. You need us. We’re Shor and Levin, the Bulldog Lawyers, and we specialize in workers’ compensation cases just like yours.

There are clear indications of when you need to retain a Pennsylvania workers’ compensation attorney to represent your interests:

If you believe you cannot return to your old job

If your employer wants to give you a “temporary” replacement job that pays less and has no possibility of advancement

If you’re going to need surgery or extensive rehabilitation to recover from your injuries

If medical care won’t be able to restore your health fully, and you will have a permanent partial disability

If you believe you are not getting the benefits or the care you need

If your benefits are denied — or terminated early

If you feel lost and confused by the worker’s comp system and need expert advice

You need a Bulldog Lawyer in your corner

We can help eliminate your confusion and guide you through the workers’ comp process. We have made a pledge to our clients: we’ll keep in touch and make sure you understand what’s going on with your case.

Your employer or the insurance company may say that you shouldn’t hire a lawyer, or that hiring a lawyer will hurt your case. Don’t believe that. You have the right to get an attorney’s advice at any stage of the process.

We want to help you get through this awful time in your life, and we really love taking on the insurance companies. There’s no charge to consult with us, so give us a call today (toll-free 866-462-8553) or fill in the online form to see what we can do for you. And, if you ask, we’ll be glad to send you our FREE book and DVD set, “We Wrote The Book on Comp.”

There are Four Commitments We Make To Our Worker Comp Clients:

1. Honesty and plain talk. If we don’t think we can provide significant value, we won’t take your worker comp case. We level with every person who is seeking representation. We’re not interested in signing up people whose case will not be an absolute front burner priority.

2. Fast Action. It is critically important that momentum is established right away. We will position your case immediately to the insurance company. By aggressively pursuing your case, we are going to be in the best position to obtain a full and fair recovery in the least amount of time.

3. Stay in Touch. You have the right to know what’s happening every step of the way. Insurance companies will create delays in the hopes of getting you to agree to a smaller settlement. We know you want to be kept in the loop and so we make ourselves accessible to you. We are not adverse to calling you and giving you an update on your worker comp case.

4. Keep the heat on the insurance company. There is not a week that goes by that your file isn’t front and center. We are constantly balancing our client’s need for a full and fair settlement with the practical requirement that the case is settled quickly. The only way to achieve that is to keep the insurance company’s feet to the fire.

Find out if you qualify for benefits.

Talk to one of our workers compensation lawyers— the right lawyer will guard your rights! Don’t allow yourself to be bullied, tricked—or taken advantage of. If you are not sure what to do about your worker related injury or illness, you should contact our offices and an attorney can help you determine if you are entitled to benefits.

Over the approximately 40 minutes that that tragedy took place, many lives were changed forever. The relatives and friends of two women are left grieving, an employee is dealing with the physical trauma of a gunshot wound and many workers face potential psychological issues.

As the survivors of this Philadelphia workplace tragedy begin to pick up the pieces of their lives, it is important for those with physical or psychological injuries to consult with Philadelphia workers comp lawyers to fully understand how their legal rights may aid in their recovery.

Your Employer or Your Employer’s Insurer May Try to Prevent Your Recovery. A Philadelphia workers compensation lawyer can safeguard your rights and fight for your just recovery.

Your Lawyer Can Build a Strong Case. The sooner that you contact your lawyer, the sooner your lawyer can start investigating and building your case. For example, if you contact a lawyer the week that you are injured then your lawyer has a much better chance of examining a defective piece of equipment or unsafe work environment as it was at the time of your accident then if you were to contact a lawyer many months after your accident.

Your Bills Will Add Up Quickly. Medical bills can add up quickly at a time when you are out of work due to your injuries. To prevent financial stress, it is important to contact a lawyer as soon as possible. The sooner you make the call, the sooner your lawyer can get to work recovering financial damages on your behalf.

We understand that you have a lot to think about in the aftermath of an occupational injury. However, we encourage you to call us, the Bulldog Lawyers, as soon as possible after your Philadelphia accident so that we can help you get the recovery that you deserve.

It often comes as a shock and creates additional stress, when your workers comp claim comes back denied or approved for an amount lower than that to which you are entitled.

It is important to know that you are not without options.

You do not have to accept the first word of the workers comp board as the final word. Instead, your workers comp settlement can be negotiated and you may be able to get the compensation that you deserve. Contact a bulldog lawyer today for more information about how to negotiate a favorable Philadelphia workers compensation settlement.

She had to undergo surgery to remove the affected tendons. She is currently out of work and recovering.

“Blackberry thumb” may be a new occupational hazard but employers are still required to play by the old workers comp rules. If you have hurt a hand in a work related accident then you should contact a Philadelphia workers comp lawyer for a free consultation about your potential rights to recovery.
